An old town that draws visitors

Tricarico has the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, founded at the wish of Robert Guiscard, a Norman tower 27 metres high, the Ducal Palace with the archaeological museum and the Carmine Convent with frescoes. The territory also holds archaeological areas, such as Serra del Cedro, a Lucanian city of the 6th century BC.

If you welcome visitors, with a B&B, a restaurant or a guide, you need a page that opens fast on a phone, with real photos, and to be found when someone searches for what to see near Matera.

The carnival and the January festivities

The Tricarico carnival is known for the parade of cow and bull masks, held on the last Sunday before carnival ends. On 17 January Saint Anthony the Abbot is celebrated, with the blessing of animals and the herd walking through the old town. A page with dates, programme and directions, in Italian and English, is what visitors and journalists look for when they want to write about the event.

Copper, woods and farming

Among the town's activities is craftsmanship, in particular copper working, tied to farming and pastoral culture, and agriculture. Woods cover about 2,500 hectares, with oaks and Turkey oaks; a downy oak in Grottone, estimated at 614 years old, is among the regional natural monuments. For a craftsperson, an online page for each object, with photos and measurements, lets you sell outside Basilicata too.
