A city tourists search for in many languages
The Sassi di Matera have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 9 December 1993 and Matera was European Capital of Culture in 2019, together with Plovdiv in Bulgaria. With 59,278 residents it is the second city of Basilicata and the region's largest municipality, at 392 square kilometres.
The typical visitor is not from Matera and often does not speak Italian: they search "where to stay in Matera" or "best restaurants in the Sassi" and decide within minutes. A website that is fast on a phone, with real photos, clear prices, a map, a simple way to book or ask for availability and a well-written English version is the most direct way to receive bookings without relying only on large portals.
We build websites for accommodation, restaurants, guides and local tour operators, with local SEO in Italian and English and a WhatsApp link for enquiries.
Pane di Matera PGI, a product to tell and ship
Pane di Matera has been PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) since 2008, under Commission Regulation (EC) No 160/2008. It is made with durum wheat semolina, a sourdough starter obtained from macerating fresh fruit, salt and water, with a long rise and baking in a wood-fired oven. Part of the semolina must come from old local varieties, such as Cappelli.
It is a perfect story for a website: the technique, the oven, the horn shape, how long it keeps. A bakery or shop can show its work and also sell packaged products with shipping, in line with the specification. The PGI name is only used for certified product: we set it up with you starting from what you may write.
Workshops, artisans and professionals
If you work with ceramics, papier-mâché or authentic souvenirs, an online store is a second point of sale that stays open even after the tourist has gone home. And professional practices and small businesses in the city need a clear website saying what they do, where they are and how to get in touch.
