PGI Canestrato di Moliterno online
The Canestrato di Moliterno has been PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) since 2010, registered by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 441/2010. Having your town's name on a cheese protected across the European Union is an asset that goes unnoticed unless you tell its story.
For a dairy, a product page with real photos, sizes, ageing, pairings and a simple way to order makes the difference between being found or not by someone searching for "Lucanian canestrato" from outside the area. With an online store you can also sell to distant customers, with payments and shipping already set up.
The PGI name is used in line with the specification: we set up texts and images according to what you may write, in Italian and in English.
A castle and a town worth visiting
Moliterno stands at 879 metres, with a territory reaching 1,518 metres on Serra Giumenta. Its medieval castle, of Lombard origin with a Norman keep, was declared a monument of national interest in the late 1970s. Places to visit include the Mother Church of Santa Maria Assunta, from the 12th–13th century, the Church of the Rosary and the MAM museums.
The patron saint is Saint Dominic, on 4 August. In 1999 the town was also the setting of the film "Terra bruciata". For those who organise visits, hospitality or events, a page with these references, a map and a direct contact helps bring visitors beyond the summer.
Next to Sarconi, in the middle of the Agri Valley
The municipality borders Castelsaraceno, Grumento Nova, Lagonegro, Lauria, Montesano sulla Marcellana, Sarconi and Tramutola. If your business works with tourists and products from the whole Agri Valley, it makes sense to present it together with neighbouring towns: on Google, people looking for a place to eat or sleep often look at the whole valley, not just one village.
